But then, I grew older and something happened. A baby changed everything! A babe came into the world....and changed MY world. I no longer have to wonder about fleeting love or play that roulette game of love or loss anymore. Daisies will always remind me of the love that a little babe, born in a manger, had for me before I was even born......and at Christmas time I am always reminded of just how great that love is for me. Voices raised in idle chatter as they watched their barking dogs run like the wind in circles around them. I could hear their words so clearly in the night air but I could only faintly see them. 
My photography has always had spiritual implications for me. My camera being a divine tool in my hands, an extension, so to speak, of myself and a tangible way to transfer, through a lens, what is in the core of my heart into a physical image that expresses said emotion....and this photo's illustration and message to me was no different. I was reminded how easy it is to pass judgement based on words only, hearsay, what others tell me, gossip, etc, while seeing dimly, while not having a clear view of the situation, while not having all the facts. This image was a poignant reminder to me about not passing judgement hastily because I might only see the situation dimly through improper filters.

This beautiful boy came to me as a feral.  I'm not sure who chose whom. It was a hot summer day and his feral mama had 3 other little ones that I was able to catch, but Jack......Jack played hard to get and I almost lost him.  But at the last minute I saw him scurry out of the corner of my eye.....and he was mine.  I raised him and his 3 siblings from birth, feeding them around the clock while caring for their mama. Hard as it was, I parted with 2 of his litter, but Jack and his sister, Lily, stayed to become part of my family.  Like I said, I'm not sure who adopted whom, but we were meant to be.  My Jackie!

There are days that I would like to hit the 'backspace' key and be transported back before the pain, back before the death, back before the tears. I don't use that key often but this past week I gently placed my finger on that key, hoping, just hoping to stop time. You see, I experienced 2 deaths within one week, my brother-in-law and one of my favorite aunts. So full of life one day and gone the next. I would like to hit the backspace key for them. I would like to hit the backspace key for me....to have one more day with these special people. Two funerals in one day. Memories of days gone by....never to come again. Floods of 'backspace' memories. This old typewriter's keys are old and stuck. There is no tapping the 'backspace' key to make all things as they were. We all have those moments, don't we? Those days we want to hit the backspace key. Looking at the keys on this typewriter got me to thinking.....I can wish to hit the backspace key and live in the past, I can hit the 'tab' key and fast forward over the uncomfortable, or I can just tap the 'spacebar' and live one day at a time. I'm embracing the blur in my life right now.

Besides being selected the "Defense Player Of The Game" for 3 recent football games, Owen has set new personal best  records in Track & Field in 100 meters, long jump, triple jump and 4 x 100 relay. You see, Maju is from Porto Alegre, Brazil and has just graduated high school from The MacDuffie School in Granby, class of 2016. Her parents wanted her to learn our culture and language so they arranged for her schooling and a family for her to live with while she was here studying. My good friends, Dave and Caroline Bessette became what is known as her 'home stay family'. Maju has become like a daughter to them during this time. The Class of 2016 had their commencement exercises at Mount Holyoke College Abbey Chapel in South Hadley and Dave and Caroline hosted a reception for her the following day! What a beautiful celebration of her accomplishments ​surrounded by her Mom and Dad, here from Brazil,  and her extended family! Congratulations Maju on your graduation and much success as you advance to college!

Camden's having fun! https://www.nancyhebertphotography.com/blog/2016/5/time-flies-camdens-having-fun It's so hard to grasp how 2 months can pass like the blink of an eye!

It seems like just yesterday that Camden's parents, Kris and Elayna, and his 2 older brothers, Benjamin and Lukas, were bringing him home from the hospital.

I love to watch the way my daughter-in-love, Elayna, and my bonus-son, Kris, look into Camden's eyes and then to see him reflect that love on his precious little face. And to see just how much his older brothers, Benji and Lukie, dote on him just melts me.

Now they are a beautiful family of 5 and it just feels so right......so complete.....

There's something that makes me gravitate toward animals and my wanting to be near them whenever I see them. They exude trust to me because of their total dependency upon us humans to care for them.  We are their caretakers and what an awesome privilege is it to have one on the other end of the leash I'm carrying! Seeing this man walking his dog brought such a smile to my face.
